:: Welcome to the WebAlgo Group
WebAlgo is a group of Computational Mathematics - Institute of
Informatics and Telematics (IIT), at the National Research Council (CNR) in Pisa, in
collaboration with the Department of Informatics of the University of Piemonte
Orientale , and the Department of computer science
of the University of Pisa.
The research of this group is oriented to solving the challenging
problems arising from the applications of Information Retrieval and
Data Mining objectives and concepts to the World Wide web scenario.
In particular we have been working on:
- Clustering and labeling of web snippets in meta search engines.
- Detection and extraction of implicit cyber-communities in the web graph.
- Models for structural properties of the web graph
- Automatic generation of summaries for Digital Videos
- Data Compression
- Models and algorithms for On-line Ad-Words auctions
Tools developed:
-
Armil: a
Clustering Meta-search Engine that allows users to send queries
simultaneously to Google and Yahoo. The snippets returned by Google
and Yahoo are grouped by Armil into homogeneous groups by topic.
-
Community
Watch: a tool for visualizing dense subgraphs of several
snapshots of the web graph: the whole web in 2001, the national
domain.it of year 2004 and the national domain .uk of year 2005.
-
ViSto:a tool for
making on-the-fly personalized static summaries of short videos.
-
A Lightweight Suffix Array and BWT Construction Algorithm (Available
here)
-
The Data Compression Boosting Library (Available here)
